
Ladyjacks Come up Short in Defensive Battle at Oklahoma

NORMAN, OK -- The SFA women's basketball team got a 21-point showing from the bench, but fell 75-62 to the Oklahoma Sooners on the road Wednesday.
SFA fell to 2-2 overall after the defeat.
The Ladyjacks had two players score in double figures, led by Stephanie Visscher, who had 18 points and four steals. Kennedy Harris tacked on 13 points and Noelle Yancy added nine points and three steals.
SFA did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 16 boards that resulted in six second chance points.
SFA forced 21 Oklahoma turnovers while committing 18 themselves in Wednesday's game. The Ladyjacks turned those takeaways into 13 points on the other end of the floor. Visscher led the way individually with four steals.

GAME SUMMARY
SFA struggled out of the gate, falling behind 28-12 at the end of the first quarter.
The Ladyjacks continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 46-18 halftime deficit.
Oklahoma continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 58-27 advantage before SFA went on a 7-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Aaliyah Johnson, to trim its deficit to 58-34 with 1:21 to go in the third. The Ladyjacks continued to reduce the Oklahoma lead, shrinking it to 60-39 by the end of the third quarter. SFA's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled seven of the team's 21 third-quarter points.
Oklahoma kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 74-49 advantage before SFA went on an 11-0 run, finished off by Harris' three, to shrink the deficit to 74-60 with 1:48 to go in the contest. The Ladyjacks kept their comeback going, but Oklahoma managed to hold on for the 75-62 win. SFA took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 16 of its 23 points in the paint.
