Ladyjacks Excel in Singles Action on Day Two of SFA Duals

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The SFA tennis team put up some great results in singles action Saturday at the Schlief Tennis Complex as the Ladyjacks won 12 of the 14 one-on-one matchups they took part in during day two of the SFA Duals.
Against both Tyler Junior College and Prairie View A&M the Ladyjacks won six of seven singles matches to produce a strong second day of play. Line one player Gabi Guilarte had to come back from a 6-4 loss in the opening set to TJC's Lucie Devier in order to lock up a 4-6, 6-3, 11-9 win. Guilarte completed her 2-0 day in singles action with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph against Prairie View's Jimena Duran Castelanos.
Darinka Tiboldi also picked up two wins, downing TJC's Yu Yue (6-4, 6-1) and Prairie View's Mahogani Green (7-5, 6-1). Armelle Cerdan, Nida Kamal, Elena Bleicher and Ai Noa Fabre all won both of their singles matches, too, to cap off SFA's strong showing in singles action.
Cerdan was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over TJC's Momoko Yoshimura and a 6-4, 6-2 victor against Prairie View's Claudia Andrea Islas Medina. Bleicher beat TJC's Jadeh Chan 6-2, 6-1 and Prairie View's Salma Sanchez Villalobos 6-3, 6-0. Kamal earned a 6-7 (5), 6-2, 10-5 win over TJC's Julia Khamula before defeating Prairie View's Jessica Lackey 6-1, 6-0.
Noa Fabre surrendered just five games on the day, winning 6-2, 6-1 over TJC's Alexia Tashbaeva and 6-1, 6-1 against Prairie View's Anette Lira.
In doubles play, Cerdan and Noa Fabre secured SFA's lone win against Louisiana Tech. Placed on line two in doubles play against the Lady Techsters, SFA's duo took down Louisiana Tech's pair of Ana Jover and Rikona Murikami by a score of 6-4.
The Ladyjacks will wrap up their three-day tournament Sunday at the Schlief Tennis Complex with the action set to get underway at 9:00 a.m.
