TRACK Kat Klash Results (through day two)
HOUSTON - Freshman Tommie White racked up the sixth-highest individual pinfall total (1,051) among the 131 competitors at the TRACK Kat Klash to help the third-ranked SFA bowling team rise to sixth in the standings Saturday.
The Ladyjacks won four of their five traditional team matches Saturday at Emerald Bowl, running their record in matches of that configuration to 9-1 through the first two events of the 2019-20 season.
White rolled four 200+ games including a team-best 245 in the Ladyjacks' second match of the day against Texas Southern. The freshman was the lone Ladyjacks to exceed the 200 mark in the team's 849-786 triumph over Southern to begin the day.
Facing Texas Southern in match two, White's 245 was complimented by Sarah Gill's 206 which helped SFA to a 977-868 victory. Carlene Beyer was SFA's standout in the team's 1,016-996 win against North Carolina A&T as she rolled a 236 in the win. Beyer's 236 was one of three 200+ pinfall efforts posted by Ladyjack bowlers as Samantha Munsch produced a 203 and White a 201.
SFA's lone loss of day two came by a narrow 950-936 margin to Alabama State. Beyer rolled a 222 in that one but was the only Ladyjack to break 200. Returning to the win column to conclude the five-match traditional team day, SFA received 200+ pinfall outings from Beyer (226), White (211) and Munsch (206) to get by McKendree 997-970.
Through two days, McKendree leads the 16-team event with a pinfall total of 9,808. Nebraska (9,754) and Arkansas State (9,636) round out the top three. At 8:20 a.m. Sunday morning, the Ladyjacks look to move up the leaderboard even more when baker match play commences.
