• For the first time in over three years, the SFA football team is set to do battle with Louisiana rival Southeastern Louisiana. The first meeting between the two clubs since 2016 will take place at Strawberry Stadium in Hammond, La., at 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.
• Three of SFA's final four games of the 2019 season will be played on the road and that stretch starts Saturday in Hammond - a city where SFA emerged as the victors the last time the 'Jacks and Lions met there. In that game, SFA fell behind 20-0 but outscored the Lions 28-7 over the last 45 minutes to secure a 28-27 victory over the then-21st-ranked squad on Oct. 17, 2015.
• Last Saturday in the 'Jacks' homecoming battle with McNeese, junior Josh McGowen accounted for his team's lone touchdown of the game. That upped his season total to five score - the most on the team.
• With 175 yards through the air in the 'Jacks' setback to McNeese last Saturday, sophomore quarterback Trae Self increased his season passing yardage total to 2,041. That ranks 20th all-time on SFA's career passing yardage chart and Self is one of just 20 Lumberjack signal callers to have racked up 2,000 or more passing yards in a career.
• Should he amass 558 more yards through the air this season, Self would enter the program's top ten in terms of passing yardage in a single season.

• The postseason scenario for the Ladyjacks is a simple one as they head to Huntsville, Texas, Friday night - a win means they're in the Southland Conference Tournament field as the eighth seed.
• SFA is currently tied with Central Arkansas for eighth-place in the Southland Conference standings with one regular season game remaining. The Ladyjacks hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over their foes from Arkansas thanks to a 1-0 win earlier in the year.
• The soccer edition of the Battle of the Piney Woods has seen the Ladyjacks win the last three meetings. Through the last three matchups against the rivals, SFA has outscored Sam Houston State 13-1.
• Last week SFA went 1-1 in a pair of double-overtime Southland Conference contests to remain in the hunt for a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament. Junior midfielder Katelyn Termini's golden goal lifted SFA past Incarnate Word on the road Sunday afternoon. That result came a little less than two days after redshirt sophomore Madeline Talbot made an NCAA Division I single-season high 18 saves in a tough 1-0 double-overtime setback at Abilene Christian.

• Still undefeated in Southland Conference play, the SFA volleyball team returns to Shelton Gym Thursday evening for a Halloween night clash with longtime Piney Woods rival Sam Houston State. From there, the Ladyjacks head to Houston for a Southland battle against Houston Baptist Saturday afternoon.
• Continuing to gather up votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I Coaches Top 25 poll, SFA received 29 votes in Monday's latest edition. That puts the Ladyjacks in 28th place among the 33 teams either ranked or receiving votes in the weekly listing.
• SFA's 22 wins are the second-highest total among all NCAA Division I volleyball teams this season and the Ladyjacks enter the week riding a 15-match winning streak (the fourth-longest active streak in the nation).
• Last week SFA's senior class of Danae Daron, Corin Evans, Ann Hollas and Xariah Williams hit the 100-win mark by helping the Ladyjacks take down Northwestern State in four sets. That group became the first collection of SFA players to hit the 100-win mark since 2007.
• Though their nation-leading streak of consecutive sets won ended at 37 with a 25-23 setback in the opening set at Northwestern State last Saturday, SFA quickly recovered and won the next three frames to remain perfect in league action.
• A trio of Ladyjacks are leading the Southland in various statistical categories. Following a season-high 32 digs in Saturday's victory over the Lady Demons, junior libero Maddie Miller hiked her digs per set average to 5.12 - the 20th-best average in the nation. Daron hit over .500 during the Ladyjacks' two matches last week which upped her league-leading attack percentage to .408. That puts the senior 22nd nationally in that statistical category. Taya Mitchell continued to rack up rejections at an alarming rate last week and now has a Southland-best 125 on the year. That block total is the sixth-highest nationally while her 1.60 stuffs per set is fourth in the land and the best average in the Southland.
• SFA ranks among the top 15 nationally in blocks per set (eighth, 2.90), digs per set (15th, 17.49), opponent hitting percentage (eighth, .143) and total blocks (12th, 226).
