
Batista and Benavides Among Top 20 after First Round of Little Rock Invitational

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Senior Alexandra Batista and freshman Karina Benavides each shot a trio of birdies to finish among the top 20 after the opening round of the Little Rock Golf Classic Sunday at the Diamante Country Club.
Batista and Benavides finished the first day with identical scores of 2-over 74 and currently sit in a tie for 18th place headed into the second day of the three-day tournament. Collectively, SFA shot a 15-over 303 to sit in a tie for 15th place in the 17-team tournament.
Leading the way from a team standpoint after day one is Western Kentucky who penciled in a team score of 3-over 291 to sit two strokes ahead of California Baptist (5-over 293) for the lead. The Hilltoppers' Mary Joiner stands as the clubhouse leader through the first 18 holes having carded a 3-under 69.
In addition to Batista and Benavides, three other Ladyjack golfers hit the links for day one of the tournament. Freshman Sloane Bennett shot a 5-over 77 and sits in 64th place while Kate Dishman (6-over 78) and Zayda Cedillo (10-over 82) are 71st and 86th respectively in the 90-woman field.
