Two-time national champions had previously used Storm at equipment provider
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - After using Storm bowling equipment since its inception as an NCAA sport at SFA, the SFA bowling team announced Tuesday it will be using Hammer Bowling-branded equipment for the 2019-20 campaign.
Hammer Bowling is one of six bowling equipment brands under the Ebonite International umbrella and has been inside Ebonite's brand portfolio since 2002.
"Hammer is arguably the strongest brand in bowling at this time," said Rob Gotchall, manager players and performance for Hammer. "When your products consistently perform at a high level and your brand recognition is high, you attract a lot of attention."
"When SFA showed interest in affiliating with Ebonite International, we immediately thought Hammer would be the perfect match," he said.
SFA head coach Amber Lemke said the move to Hammer was the result of the program wishing to explore options they felt will yield more opportunities.
"With the relaunch of the PWBA and how important collegiate bowling is, we were looking to be part of a company that understands this," Lemke said. "We wanted the family feel and a company that would invest their time into our student-athletes and university. We felt EBI was the best fit for us and we are honored to be under the Hammer brand."
Lemke said communication is heavily stressed within the program and EBI is an excellent example of a company that has great communication across the board.
"Everyone we have come in contact with has been extremely helpful in the transition and it is clear they (EBI) want their college teams to succeed," she said.
"When a recruit decides that SFA is the place for them, we do our best to give them best four years we can," she said. "Our expectations every year is to create family environment where our student athletes get a great college education, create lasting memories, be good humans and improve their bowling skills."
"I think building that environment and a positive team cultures leads to having success both in the classroom and in competition," she said.
In addition to SFA, Hammer also sponsors the following schools: Jackson State University, Lewis University, Lindenwood, Lindsey Wilson College, McKendree, Midland, Oklahoma Christian, Rio Grande, Saginaw Valley State and William Patterson.
