
SFA Checks in at Number Three in NTCA Preseason Poll

Vanderbilt and McKendree only teams above defending national champions
2019-20 NTCA Preseason Poll
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Following a 2019 season that culminated with an NCAA National Championship, the SFA bowling team has checked in at number three in the nation in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Preseason Poll which was released Tuesday afternoon. 
SFA picked up a nation-leading 20 of a possible 46 first-place votes in the poll and amassed 1,557 total points in the preseason poll. Vanderbilt, who SFA defeated in the 2019 NCAA National Championship match, was tabbed as the favorite to claim the 2020 national title after securing 18 first-place votes and a total of 1,671 points. McKendree (six first-place votes) was the only other program ranked ahead of SFA in the preseason poll.
The Ladyjacks are one of six programs from the Southland Bowling League who were ranked among the NTCA's Preseason Top 25. Reigning Southland Bowling League champion Sam Houston State checked in at fifth place while Arkansas State (sixth) joined the Ladyjacks and Bearkats in the preseason top 10.
Tulane (14th), Louisiana Tech (17th) and Youngstown State (24th) also represented the Southland Bowling League in the preseason top 25 listing.
SFA is set to start its 2019-20 campaign on Friday, Oct. 18, in New Orleans, La., where it will compete in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invite.
