Angelo Leyvani Highlights Day One of Sam Hall Intercollegiate

Senior tied for 10th after two complete rounds with 1-under 141, ‘Jacks lead four other Southland teams
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Through two rounds of the 16th Annual Sam Hall Intercollegiate in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the Stephen F. Austin men's golf team leads four other Southland Conference programs as senior Angelo Leyvani is tied for 10th place among 78 total golfers. The Lumberjacks carded a 1-over 285 in Monday morning's opening round at the Hattiesburg Country Club and stood in fifth place among the 13-team tournament field, but shot an 8-over 292 on the second 18 holes during the afternoon to stand in eighth place with a cumulative score of 9-over 577.
Leyvani, who owns a two-round tally of 1-under 141, shot a 2-under 69 in the first round before turning in a 1-over 72 round two score. He is in a five-way tie for 10th place on the individual leaderboard, while freshman Isiah Henderson carded a career-best 3-under 68 in the opening round and is tied for 25th with a 36-hole total of 2-over 144.
Senior Jake Hendrix carded a 1-over 72 on the first 18 holes of play and finished the day with a 4-over 146 to sit tied for 37th. Sophomore Steven Fabik rose 18 spots on the individual leaderboard between the first and second rounds, shooting a 1-under 70 on the par-71, 6,902-yard course to close out the first day of play tied for 50th with a 6-over 148.
Competing in his inaugural collegiate tournament, freshman individual golfer Johannes Gudmundsson is also tied for 50th with a two-round score of 6-over 148 after registering a 1-over 72 in the second round. Freshman Trent Lutze, who is playing as an individual, notched a 3-over 74 in the opening round Monday morning and holds an 11-over 153 total, while freshman Jacob Garcia began his collegiate career by posting a 17-over 159 across the two rounds of play.
The Southern Conference's Mercer leads the tournament field after shooting a combined 5-under 563 Monday. One stroke off the lead is Sam Hall Intercollegiate host Southern Mississippi, who shot a 4-under 564 for the opening two rounds. Both Troy and Missouri State are tied for third place with cumulative scores of 3-under 565.
SFA outplayed four fellow Southland member programs during Monday's first and second rounds. The 'Jacks hold a three-stroke lead on Central Arkansas (12-over 580) and sit ahead of Nicholls (17-over 585), New Orleans (20-over 588) and Southeastern Louisiana (25-over 593).
Mercer's Stanton Schorr sits atop the individual leaderboard four strokes ahead of Leyvani with a two-round score of 5-under 137. Southern Miss' Matt Lorenz and Troy's Connor Futrell are tied for second place with day one totals of 4-under 138.
Tuesday morning's third and final round will get underway beginning at 8 a.m. CST with a double tee start off of holes one and 10. SFA is paired with Bowling Green and Central Arkansas as Garcia will tee off of hole one at 8 a.m., followed by Fabik at 8:09 a.m., Hendrix at 8:18 a.m., Henderson at 8:27 a.m. and Leyvani at 8:36 a.m. Lutze is paired with Bryson Bianco of Troy and Brady Bennett of New Orleans and will tee off of hole 10 at 8:09 a.m., while Gudmundsson will start on hole 10 at 8:18 a.m. with New Orleans' Ryan Fulton and Southeastern Louisiana's Connor Wilson.
