Ladyjacks Improve Opening Round Score by Four Strokes, Lautensack Breaks into Top 10

Erica Lautensack’s 2-under 69 aids women’s golf to round two improvement at the Golfweek Program Challenge in South Carolina
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Erica Lautensack carded a 2-under 69 Monday morning at the Golfweek Program Challenge in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, to move into the top 10 on the individual leaderboard and lead the Stephen F. Austin women's golf team to a four-stroke improvement. She is tied for seventh among 74 total golfers with a two-round total of 1-over 143, while the Ladyjacks recorded a 24-over 308 in the second round at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club. SFA stands in 11th place with a two-day tally of 52-over 620.
Junior Alexandra Batista improved upon her opening round score by four strokes Monday morning, shooting a 6-over 77 in round two. She is tied for 50th with a two-round score of 16-over 158. Senior Jamee Jorgensen registered a 9-over 80 second-round score and is tied for 53rd with a total of 17-over 159, while sophomore Alexis Szewczyk recorded an 11-over 82 Monday to sit tied for 58th and hold a two-day total of 18-over 160. Fellow sophomore Kelly Yang shot a 18-over 89 in the second round and owns a tally of 30-over 172.
Campbell took the lead among the 14-team tournament field, shooting a 7-under 277 for round two and holding a cumulative score of 8-under 560. Old Dominion, who led after the first round, is just two strokes off the lead with a two-day tally of 6-under 562 after carding a 4-under 280 Monday. Delaware sits in third place with a two-round score of 25-over 593.
Campbell's Isabell Ekstrom remains atop the individual leaderboard after turning in a 4-under 67 for the second consecutive round. Old Dominion's Jana Melichova sits just one stroke behind Ekstrom with a 7-under 135, shooting a 5-under 66 in round two. Her teammate, Sana Tufail, is in third place after posting a 3-under 68 in the second round and holding a two-day tally of 5-under 137.
The Golfweek Program Challenge will conclude Tuesday morning with the third and final round, which will get started with another double-tee start off of holes one and 10. SFA will tee off beginning at 7:24 a.m. CST and is paired with Valparaiso and individual competitors from Delaware and Gardner-Webb. Yang will get things started for the Ladyjacks, followed by Szewczyk teeing off at 7:33 a.m., Jorgensen at 7:42 a.m., Batista at 7:51 a.m. and Lautensack at 8 a.m.
