Lautensack Shoots 70, Women’s Golf Tied for Fourth at The Lady Maxwell

Ladyjacks tied with host Oral Roberts after opening round of The Lady Maxwell
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Senior Erica Lautensack shot a 1-under 70 in the opening round of The Lady Maxwell Friday afternoon to help the Stephen F. Austin women's golf team tie with tournament host Oral Roberts University following the first 18 holes of play. The Ladyjacks shot 17-over 301 as a team during the first round and are just seven strokes off the lead behind event leaders UTSA and Troy.
Held at the Dornick Hills Country Club in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Lautensack sits in third place on the individual leaderboard among 50 total golfers. Junior Alexandra Batista turned in the second-lowest Ladyjack score Friday afternoon by shooting a 3-over 74 on the par-71, 6,037-yard course. She stands tied for ninth, while freshman Alexis Szewczyk is tied for 17th after carding a 5-over 76.
Competing as an individual in her first collegiate golf tournament, true freshman Lyndy Laurrell posted a first-round score of 9-over 80 as senior Jamee Jorgensen was just one stroke off of Laurrell with a 10-over 81. Individual competitors Kelly Yang and fellow true freshman Zayda Cedillo shot opening-round scores of 11-over 82 and 13-over 84, respectively. Junior Paola Cortes notched a 14-over 85 on the first 18 holes.
With UTSA and Troy posting first-round team scores of 10-over 294, fellow Southland Conference member Sam Houston State shot a 11-over 295 to stand in third place. Texas State (22-over 306) is sixth following the opening round, while Missouri State (34-over 318) is seventh and UT Arlington (36-over 320) eighth.
Saturday's second round of play will feature an earlier start as individual tee times are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. with UT Arlington starting at 8:30 a.m. The Ladyjacks are slated to get their second round underway at 9:18 a.m. Saturday morning before Sunday's pairings are set based on the first two days' results. A double tee from hole No. 1 and No. 10 will take place Sunday beginning at 8 a.m.
