
Alexandra Batista Named WGCA All-American Scholar

Sophomore SFA women’s golfer honored by Women’s Golf Coaches Association for her work in the classroom
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) recently announced its All-American Scholars and Stephen F. Austin sophomore Alexandra Batista was one of 1,011 women's collegiate golfers to be recognized with the prestigious honor.
Batista, a native of Trophy Club, Texas, owns a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 as a multidisciplinary studies major. She held the second-lowest scoring average during the Ladyjacks' 2017-18 campaign (77.56) and claimed three top-20 finishes. After tying for seventh at the Sam Houston State Bearkat Invitational during the fall, Batista tied for 12th place at the Texas State Invitational and shot a career-low 3-under 69 in the opening round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic. Finishing tied for 11th at the ORU/SFA Spring Break Invitational, Batista closed out her sophomore year just outside the top 20 at the 2018 Southland Conference Championship in Montgomery, Texas.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
