Blake Stock Named to Southland All-Academic Team

Senior sports business major claims a spot on the second team

FRISCO, Texas – For the first time in his career Stephen F. Austin men's golfer Blake Stock has claimed a spot on the Southland Conference All-Academic Team. A senior sports business major, Stock is the lone Lumberjack represented on the Southland's annual all-academic recognition for men's golf.
After earning Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) last July, Stock completed his collegiate career this spring with a top-10 finish and six rounds of golf at par or better. The Hewitt, Texas (Midway HS), native averaged a 76.43 score throughout the 2017-18 season and tied for seventh among 90 total competitors at SFA's own ORU/SFA Spring Break Challenge at the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas Golf Course in Irving, Texas. Stock led the 'Jacks at the event by shooting a season-best 4-over 217 across the three rounds, including carding both a season and tournament-low 4-under 67 in the opening round for the fourth-lowest single round score in school history. A 2017 All-Southland Third Team selection, Stock was one of four SFA golfers to compete in all 10 events and 30 rounds during the 2017-18 academic year.
Stock played a key part in aiding the 'Jacks to five top-three team finishes in 2017-18. SFA completed the season with three-straight third-place showings, including finishing third at the 11-team Southland Championship in McKinney, Texas.
