Women’s Golf Remains in Eighth Heading into Wednesday’s Final Round

Ladyjacks own two-round total of 73-over 641, Erica Lautensack shoots 3-over 74 Tuesday to sit tied for seventh
MONTGOMERY, Texas – Through two rounds of the 2018 Southland Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Woodforest Golf Club in Montgomery, Texas, the Stephen F. Austin women's golf team remains in eighth place. On another sunny day near Lake Conroe Tuesday morning, the Ladyjacks recorded a 39-over 323 on the par-71, 6,191-yard course. SFA now owns a two-day total of 73-over 641, seven strokes behind McNeese State and Incarnate Word who are tied for sixth.
Defending Southland champion Houston Baptist remains in sole position of the lead with a two-round score of 29-over 597, while Central Arkansas stands 12 strokes off of the lead with a cumulative total of 41-over 609. Sam Houston State is in third place with a 48-over 616.
The three-day, 54-hole championship event will culminate Wednesday with the third and final round beginning at 8 a.m.
Redshirt junior Erica Lautensack was the lone bright spot for the Ladyjacks Tuesday, shooting a 3-over 74 in the second round to stand tied for seventh among 40 total golfers. She owns a two-day score of 10-over 152 and is seven strokes off of the lead, held by Houston Baptist's Alisa Chong (3-over 145). Central Arkansas' Fernanda Lira is in second place on the individual leaderboard with a two-round tally of 6-over 148, while the Bearkats' Jenna Phillips sits in third place with a two-day total of 7-over 149.
Sophomore Alexandra Batista shot a 11-over 82 during Tuesday morning's second round and is tied for 19th with a score of 15-over 157. Redshirt junior Jamee Jorgensen improved her opening-round score by five strokes, registering a 10-over 81 Tuesday to own a 25-over 167 through two rounds. She is in 37th place and is followed by sophomore Paola Cortes, who sits tied for 38th with a two-day tally of 26-over 168 after recording a second-round score of 15-over 86. Freshman Alexis Szewczyk also posted a 15-over 86 Tuesday and is 40th with a cumulative total of 27-over 169.
For the third-straight day, SFA is paired with Incarnate Word and will tee off of hole No. 1 starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Szewczyk will lead off the third round with an 8 a.m. tee time, followed by Cortes at 8:09 a.m., Jorgensen at 8:18 a.m., Batista at 8:27 a.m. and Lautensack at 8:36 a.m.
