The four-time All-American claims No. 12 seed in qualifying, claims opening round match 708-618
LINCOLN, Neb. – A little less than a week after becoming the first NCAA Division I bowler to be named a four-time National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-American First Team selection, Stephen F. Austin senior bowler Stephanie Schwartz is competing for an individual national title at the United States Bowling Congress' (USBC) 2018 Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC). The five-day event held at the Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Nebraska, got underway Tuesday with qualifying to determine bracket play seeding, followed by the opening match-play round of the championships.

Paired up against Monmouth's Jacqueline Evans for the first round of match play, Schwartz bowled a combined score of 708 in the three games. She defeated Evans 708-618 to advance to Wednesday's second round, where Schwartz will face Veronica Cepeda of Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD-Savannah).

The Ladyjacks also qualified for USBC's 2018 Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) in March at the ITC sectional in Fairview Heights.
