Women’s Golf Moves to Fifth after Second Round of ORU/SFA Spring Break Invitational

Ladyjacks shoot 27-over 315 in second round, own two-day total of 67-over 643 as Erica Lautensack is tied for second and Alexandra Batista tied for eighth among all golfers
TROPHY CLUB, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin women's golf team improved its first-round score by 13 strokes Tuesday during the second round of the ORU/SFA Spring Break Invitational, co-hosted by the Ladyjacks and Oral Roberts University at the Trophy Club Country Club in Trophy Club, Texas. SFA shot a 27-over 315 Tuesday after recording a 40-over 328 in Monday's opening round, moving up a spot in the team standings to fifth among seven teams with a two-round tally of 67-over 643.
The three-day, 54-hole event is led by Northern Iowa, who shot a 21-over 309 in the second round and owns a two-day score of 47-over 623. Co-host Oral Roberts is second with a two-round total of 62-over 638, while UT Arlington and Bowling Green are tied for third with cumulative scores of 63-over 639.
Redshirt junior Erica Lautensack (Arlington, Texas) continues to lead the Ladyjacks and is now tied for second on the individual leaderboard after shooting a 3-over 75 on the second 18 holes of the tournament. She owns a two-round tally of 9-over 153 and is just two strokes off of the lead, held by Oral Roberts' Kennedy Ishee (7-over 151).
Sophomore Alexandra Batista, a native of Trophy Club, also stands within the top 10 among 44 total golfers after turning in a second-round score of 5-over 77 on the par-72, 6,200-yard Whitworth course. With a two-day score of 13-over 157, Batista is tied for eighth and is just three strokes outside the top five.
Redshirt junior Jamee Jorgensen (Boerne, Texas) made the largest jump of any Ladyjack, rising 13 spots on the individual leaderboard and improving her first-round score by nine strokes. Registering a 4-over 76 Tuesday, Jorgensen is now tied for 16th with a two-round mark of 17-over 161. Both sophomore Paola Cortes (Allen, Texas) and freshman Alexis Szewczyk (McKinney, Texas) recorded a 15-over 87 in the second round and are tied for 40th with total scores of 28-over 172.
Individual competitors Kelly Yang (Sugar Land, Texas) and senior Zoey Daneshfar (Trophy Club, Texas) posted second-round marks of 14-over 86 and 16-over 88, respectively, to stand 42nd and 43rd on the leaderboard with cumulative totals of 30-over 174 and 33-over 177.
The third and final round of the ORU/SFA Spring Break Invitational get underway Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. with a single tee starts off of hole No. 1. For the second-straight round SFA will tee off with the first group beginning at 8:30 a.m. and is paired with Northern Iowa and Florida Atlantic. Daneshfar and Yang will tee off with Creighton and individual competitors from Baylor and Northern Iowa. Szewczyk is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m., followed by Cortes and Daneshfar at 8:40 a.m., Jorgensen at 8:50 a.m., Batista and Yang at 9 a.m., and Lautensack at 9:10 a.m.
