Ladyjacks Shave 12 Strokes Off Score in Second Round of Little Rock Women’s Golf Classic

SFA shoots a 26-over 314 Monday as senior Erica Lautensack cards a 3-over 75
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – After a challenging start to the Little Rock Women's Golf Classic in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, the Stephen F. Austin women's golf team improved its team score by 12 strokes during Monday's second round of play. The Ladyjacks shot a 26-over 314 on the second 18 holes as senior Erica Lautensack carded a 3-over 75 to rise 28 spots on the individual leaderboard.
SFA sits four strokes ahead of fellow Southland Conference member McNeese in the three-day, 54-hole tournament held at the Diamante Country Club.
Lautensack, who now owns a two-round total of 15-over 159, is tied for 61st among 95 total golfers and is joined by junior Alexandra Batista, who improved her first-round score by three strokes Monday with a 5-over 78. Junior Paola Cortes turned in her second consecutive 8-over 80 on the par-72, 6,076-yard course and is tied for 71st with a 16-over 160.
Freshman Zayda Cedillo chiseled two strokes off her score in round two by shooting a 9-over 81, while sophomore Kelly Yang posted a second round score of 11-over 83.
Missouri State's Rachel Johnson leads all golfers with 6-under 138 through two rounds. Megan Clarke of Western Kentucky (5-under 139) is just one stroke off the lead as Lamar's Elodie Chaplet (1-under 143) is in third place.
Western Kentucky and Missouri State stand atop the team leaderboard with scores of 21-over 597, while South Alabama and Lamar are two strokes off the pace at 23-over 599.
The third and final round of the Little Rock Women's Golf Classic will begin Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
The Ladyjacks are paired with Little Rock and Arkansas State for Tuesday's final day of play. Lautensack will be teeing off from hole 12 as Cortes and Batista will begin on hole 13 and Yang and Cedillo on hole 14.
