Darkness Halts Second Round of Lumberjacks’ Play at Little Rock Invitational

Men’s Golf gets through opening round of competitive 17-team field, to finish up second round early Tuesday
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – After one full round of play, darkness suspended Monday evening's second set of 18 holes at the Little Rock Invitational in Arkansas. The Stephen F. Austin men's golf team got through the opening round of the competitive 17-team tournament field but was forced to come off the greens at 6:30 p.m. CST with one to three holes yet to go in the second round.
The Lumberjacks shot a 16-over 304 on the Bear Den Course at the Chenal Country Club in the first round to sit in 13th place in the team standings. Ranked 23rd nationally according to Golfstat.com, UNLV owns the lead after carding a 1-over 289 in the opening round, while Illinois State (2-over 290) is two strokes off the lead.
Senior Angelo Leyvani and Jake Hendrix both shot a 3-over 75 on the first 18 holes of play and are tied for 34th among 89 total golfers. Sophomore Steven Fabik posted a 5-over 77 on the par-72, 7,326-yard course, along with sophomore Midland College transfer Justin Benson and freshman Isiah Henderson, as the trio sit tied for 59th following Monday's play.
Lamar's Sam Dumez turned in a 4-under 68 in the opening round to sit atop the individual leaderboard, while Louisiana-Monroe's Guillaume Fanonnel (3-under 69) is just one stroke off the lead.
The second round of the two-day, 54-hole tournament will conclude Tuesday morning beginning at 7:45 a.m. Following a break to re-cut the greens and set up third-round pairings, the final round is scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
