Stephen F. Austin Maintains Number Seven National Ranking

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin held its ground, remaining seventh in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll. The Ladyjacks remain in the top-10 nationally for the 43rd-straight NTCA poll, dating back to February of 2012.
SFA tallied 889 total points, up 75 points from its March total of 814. The Ladyjacks sit 46 points ahead of eighth-place Maryland-Eastern Shore while trailing sixth-place Fairleigh Dickinson by 66 points in the final standings.
The Ladyjacks had a pair of strong showings in March tournaments, placing fourth at the Vanderbilt Columbia 300 Music City Classic, followed by a third-place showing at the Southland Bowling League Championships. SFA closes out the regular season with an overall record of 82-47, marking the third-straight year the Ladyjacks have eclipsed the 80-win plateau, while finishing in the top-10 in all 10 regular season events.
Nebraska reclaimed the top spot with 30 first place votes and 1,306 total points, followed by McKendree (1,226 pts.), Arkansas State (1,159), Sam Houston State (1,005 pts.) and Vanderbilt (1,049 pts.) in the top-five. SFA is one of four Southland Bowling schools among the top-seven with six of the program’s eight schools (Monmouth – 13th, Tulane – 17th) among the top-25.
SFA has set its sights on defending its national championship as the Ladyjacks are one of eight schools selected to compete at the 2017 NCAA Bowling Championships. The event will be held at the Raising Canes’ River Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, April 13-15.
