BEAUMONT, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women’s tennis team’s difficult start in its opening week of Southland Conference play continued on Saturday when the Ladyjacks dropped a 6-1 decision at Lamar.
Darinka Tiboldi secured SFA’s only singles win of the match, besting Talisa Merchiers 7-5, 6-3 in the number-four flight.
Lauren Hidalgo-Smith and Denise Maxl each forced a third set after losing the first, but ultimately fell to their competitors.
Now that its six-match road trip is in the books, the Ladyjacks will see if they can secure their first Southland Conference win of the season by coming home. On Saturday afternoon, SFA will take on Nicholls at 1:00 p.m. at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
