
Schwartz Named Southland Bowling League October Bowler of the Month

Senior Stephanie Schwartz averaged a 224.4 per game throughout October and bowled a career-best 278 game at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invitational to claim bowler of the month honors
FRISCO, Texas – Senior Stephanie Schwartz has been selected as October Southland Bowling League Bowler of the Month, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon. She picks up the first monthly plaudit of the 2017-18 season after being named Southland Co-Bowler of the Month this past February.
Schwartz averaged a score of 224.4 in 10 traditional games bowled in October, tallying a total of 2,244 pins in the two tournaments the Ladyjacks competed in during the month.
The three-time First Team National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-American started the season on a high note, averaging a 245.6 and tallying 1,228 pins at Tulane's Allstate Sugar Bowl Invitational en route to claiming MVP honors as the three-day event's top bowler. Schwartz bowled a career-best 278 in Stephen F. Austin's win over Valparaiso for the fourth-highest score ever posted by a Ladyjack in program history.
Leading SFA to a third-place team finish at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Invitational, Schwartz continued her fine play the next weekend at McKendree University's Brunswick Bearcat Open, where she averaged a 203.2 per game. Knocking down a total of 1,016 pins in the five traditional games, the Racine, Wisconsin (Washington Park H.S.), native finished 14th among 177 bowlers and guided the Ladyjacks to a fourth-place tournament finish.

The Ladyjacks will wrap up their fall slate of tournaments next weekend in Kenosha, Wisconsin, at the Warhawk Classic, hosting by NCAA Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater. The event will get started Friday, Nov. 10 and run through Sunday, Nov. 12.
