Isiah Henderson Signs with Men’s Golf for 2018

‘Jacks welcome San Antonio product to Nacogdoches for 2018 class, winner of 2016 AJGA Junior at Forest Lake in Michigan
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Head coach Trey Schroeder and assistant coach Daniel DeLuca announced the signing of Isiah Henderson as an early signee for the 2018 class Wednesday afternoon.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Henderson is a highly competitive junior golfer who has spent a lot of his time on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tour and the Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT). Attending Spring Creek Academy in Plano, Texas, Henderson trains at the Jim McLean Junior Academy full-time in Fort Worth. He captured the 2016 AJGA Junior at Forest Lake Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, last August, shooting a course record 8-under 63 in the second round. Henderson also won the 2016 Callaway Junior Tour Championship Invitational at the Forest Akers East & West in East Lansing, Michigan, last July. Owning a scoring average of 72 for the summer of 2016, Henderson earned the Callaway Junior Tour low-scoring average award.
Ranked 595th nationally according to Junior Golf Scoreboard, Henderson placed fifth at the TJGT 2016/2017 Tour Championship this past February, shooting an impressive 69 in the opening round. Tallying a 68 in the second round of the 37th Bubba Conlee this past July, the righty turned in a top-20 finish and placed 13th at the event held at the Quail Ridge Golf Club in Bartlett, Tennessee.
"We are really excited about Isiah becoming a Lumberjack golfer," coach Schroeder said. "He has proven himself as a junior golfer on the regional and national scale, having won an AJGA event and finishing in the top 20 at the 2017 Bubba Conlee. The future is bright for this young man and we are happy he has chosen to continue his golf career with us."
SFA has exactly three months before resuming its 2017-18 campaign when the 'Jacks take to the links for competition again in February. The Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, California, Friday-Sunday, Feb. 16-18 will begin SFA's spring season of tournaments.
