Ladyjacks welcome two-time Wisconsin state champion bowler as early signee for 2018 class
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Head coach Amber Lemke announced the signing of Carlene Beyer to the Stephen F. Austin bowling team Monday as the Ladyjacks' lone early signee for the 2018 class.
A native of Ogdensburg, Wisconsin, Beyer is a standout bowler at Little Wolf High School where she is a two-time individual state champion. Beyer claimed both the 2016 and 2017 Wisconsin High School Bowling Club State Championship as a sophomore and junior, respectively, and is a four-year letter winner. She placed 11th at the 2015 U15 United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Junior Gold Championships in Chicago, Illinois, and was the runner-up at the 2017 Turbo Tech Collegiate Expo this past July, which features some of the top high school bowlers in the nation.
The high point winner on the Junior Bowlers Scholarship Tour, Beyer finished third at the 2017 Wisconsin State USBC Youth 500-600 Tournament. Beyer also lettered in track & field her sophomore year while leading Little Wolf to a state runner-up finish. She plans on majoring in physical therapy and elementary education at SFA.
"Carlene's work ethic, both in the classroom and on the lanes, will add depth to our roster," coach Lemke said. "She is very talented and has already achieved many accomplishments in her young career. We are looking forward to her continuing those successes here at SFA."
The Ladyjacks turned in a seventh-place finish at Wisconsin-Whitewater's Warhawk Classic this past weekend to wrap up their fall slate of tournaments, securing their 47th consecutive top-10 placement at an event.
