Men’s Golf Wraps up Fall Slate with 11th-Place Finish at Duck Commander Intercollegiate

‘Jacks shoot a 35-over 323 Tuesday in the final round of the Duck Commander Intercollegiate, Angelo Leyvani ties for 11th with a 14-over 230
EL DORADO, Ark. – The Stephen F. Austin men's golf team turned in a 35-over 323 Tuesday in the final round of the Duck Commander Intercollegiate to finish 11th at the Mystic Creek Golf Club. Wrapping up their fall schedule of tournaments, the Lumberjacks tallied a three-day total of 84-over 948 on the par-72, 7,289-yard golf course in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Ranked 57th nationally, UNC-Wilmington captured the tournament title by shooting a 15-over 303 Tuesday to finish with a three-day total of 52-over 916. Louisiana Tech was the runner-up with a cumulative team score of 59-over 923, while fellow Southland Conference member Central Arkansas came away with third place after tallying a 62-over 926.
Junior Angelo Leyvani (San Antonio, Texas) led SFA at the event hosted by Louisiana-Monroe, posting a 7-over 79 in the third round to finish just outside the top 10. His three-round total of 14-over 230 tying him for 11th. After rising 15 spots on the leaderboard Monday in the second round, true freshman Steven Fabik (Carrollton, Texas) dropped 16 spots Tuesday to tie for 29th. He claimed a 13-over 85 in round three to finish with a total of 21-over 237.
Freshman Max Kettler (Southlake, Texas) rose a pair of spots on the leaderboard, as did senior Blake Stock (Hewitt, Texas) and fellow freshman Andy Lopez (Dallas, Texas). Kettler tied for 48th with a three-round score of 27-over 243 after registering an 81 for three consecutive rounds. Stock tied for 52nd after shooting a 10-over 82 Tuesday to finish with a three-day total of 29-over 245, while Lopez tied for 54th after recording a 9-over 81 for the third round and owning a 30-over 246 for the tournament.
Patrick Cover of No. 57 UNC-Wilmington led all three days of the Duck Commander Intercollegiate and finished with a 6-over 222 for the individual title. Louis George of Central Arkansas came in second with a three-round score of 8-over 224, while Louisiana Tech's Felix Palson climbed seven spots with a 2-over 74 third round to take home third place (9-over 225).
The tournament was the final of four events the 'Jacks have competed in this fall as SFA posted its best finish at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, placing second with a total score of 8-under 856.

SFA will have over three months before taking the links for competition again in February. The 'Jacks will begin their spring slate with the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, California, Friday-Sunday, Feb. 16-18.
