SFA Sixth after Day One at Little Rock Invitational

‘Jacks shoot a 12-over 300 followed by a 4-over 292 in the first two rounds Monday to sit in sixth place, freshman Andy Lopez tied for seventh
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Through the first day of play at the Little Rock Invitational, the Stephen F. Austin men's golf team sits in sixth place of a 10-team field after tallying a 16-over 592 in the first two rounds Monday. Moving up a spot on the team leaderboard between the two rounds, the Lumberjacks opened up play with a 12-over 300, before improving their score by eight strokes with a 4-over 292 in the second round.
All six of SFA's golfers are in the top 50 on the leaderboard through the first two rounds on the par-72, 7,326-yard Bear Den golf course at the Chenal Country Club. True freshman Andy Lopez (Dallas, Texas) started the tournament red hot, tying for the lead in the opening round with a 4-under 68. His career-low tied for the lowest score by any player through the first two rounds. Lopez then shot a 3-over 75 in round two, finishing off the day tied for seventh with a total of 1-under 143.
Junior Angelo Leyvani (San Antonio) sits tied for 18th with a two-round score of 3-over 147. He registered a 3-over 75 in the first round before claiming an even par in round two, moving up 15 spots on the leaderboard. In his first tournament in nearly a year and competing as an individual, junior Jake Hendrix (Austin, Texas) is tied for 23rd with a day one total of 4-over 148. He moved up 10 spots on the leaderboard between the two rounds, shooting a 3-over 75 followed by a 1-over 73.
Freshman Max Kettler (Southlake, Texas) shot a 10-over 82 in the first round but then rose 23 spots to sit tied for 40th when he registered a 2-under 70 in the second round for a day one total of 8-over 152. Senior Blake Stock (Hewitt, Texas) finished off Monday tied for 44th after tallying a 5-over 77 and a 4-over 76 for a day one score of 9-over 153. Freshman Steven Fabik (Carrollton, Texas) is tied for 49th with a 11-over 155 total after improving his score by five strokes between the two rounds.
Tournament host Little Rock leads all teams with a two-round total of 5-over 581 as Illinois State sits just one stroke behind the Trojans in second place after posting a day one score of 6-over 592. UT Arlington and 46th-ranked Arkansas State are both tied for third with scores of 13-over 589. SFA sits ahead of both its Southland Conference counterparts, Houston Baptist and Central Arkansas.
Little Rock's Aaron Ramos is atop the leaderboard after shooting 6-under 138 Monday. Competing as an individual, Arkansas State's Zan Luka Stirn and Illinois State's Trent Wallace are tied for second just one stroke off the lead.
The third and final round will get underway at 8 a.m. Tuesday with a shotgun start. The 'Jacks will tee off from holes five through eight and are paired up with Arkansas State and Dayton. Hendrix will tee off from hole 14 with Seton Hall's Gen Nagai and Central Arkansas' Louis Tomlinson.
