Ladyjacks Ninth after Two Rounds at Fred Marx Invitational

SFA sits in ninth place after day one of play at the Fred Marx Invitational in Monroe, Louisiana, shooting an 86-over 662 through 36 holes
MONROE, Louisiana – Through two rounds of play at Louisiana-Monroe's Fred Marx Invitational, the Stephen F. Austin women's golf team sits in ninth place with a 36-hole total of 86-over 662. The Ladyjacks shot a 43-over 331 in the opening round Monday morning at the Bayou Desiard Country Club in Monroe, Louisiana, before posting a 45-over 333 in round two.
Murray State out of the Ohio Valley Conference holds a 17-stroke lead on the leaderboard after posting a day one score of 28-over 612 on the par-72 golf course. Host Louisiana-Monroe is in second place with a two-round total of 48-over 624, while fellow Southland Conference member Lamar is third after earning a 53-over 629 Monday.
SFA is paced by sophomore Paola Cortes (Allen, Texas), who moved up six places on the leaderboard to stand tied for 21st. She shot a 7-over 79 in round two after owning a 10-over 82 in the first round Monday morning to have a cumulative total of 17-over 161. Sophomore Haleigh Jordan (San Antonio, Texas) is the second-highest Ladyjack on the leaderboard with a two-round score of 23-over 167, while redshirt junior Jamee Jorgensen (Boerne, Texas) sits one stroke behind her tied for 44th after posting a day one score of 24-over 168.
Tied for 47th is redshirt junior Erica Lautensack (Arlington, Texas) after tallying a 25-over 169 Monday. Also tied for 47th with an identical score but competing as an individual is true freshman Alexis Szewczyk (McKinney, Texas). Sophomore Alexandra Batista (Trophy Club, Texas) sits tied for 51st through two rounds, registering a cumulative score of 26-over 170 after completing the course twice. Competing as individuals, true freshman Kelly Yang (Sugar Land, Texas) and senior Zoey Daneshfar (Trophy Club, Texas) stand 63rd and 66th on the leaderboard, respectively, after claiming day one scores of 37-over 181 and 42-over 186.
Lamar's Elodie Chapelet owns a two-stroke lead at the top of the leaderboard with a 3-over 147, including a second round score of 2-under 70, while Louisiana-Monroe's Scarlett Eaton is in second place with a two-round total of 5-over 149. UT Arlington's Ava Schwienteck is third after totaling a 7-over 151 Monday.
Play continues tomorrow morning at the Fred Marx Invitational with the third and final round of play getting underway at 8:15 a.m. with a shotgun start. The Ladyjacks will tee off from holes eight through 11 once again and are paired up with players from Incarnate Word and UT Arlington. SFA's individual competitors will tee off from holes 15 and 16.
