Men’s Golf Tied for 12th Heading into Final Round of Louisville Cardinal Challenge

The ‘Jacks shot a 15-over 303 in the second round of the University of Louisville’s Cardinal Challenge Saturday and sits tied for 12th place going into the final round of play Sunday
SIMPSONVILLE, Kentucky – Through two rounds of play at the University of Louisville's Cardinal Challenge in Simpsonville, Kentucky, the Stephen F. Austin men's golf team sits tied for 12th place with DePaul after shooting a 15-over 303 in the second round Saturday afternoon. Despite improving their score by five strokes from the opening round, the Lumberjacks were unable to make much progress on the leaderboard and own a two-day total of 35-over 611.
The highlight of day two was true freshman Max Kettler (Southlake, Texas), who rose 21 spots on the leaderboard, improving his day one score by three strokes with a 1-under 71. He sits tied for eighth with a two-round total of 1-over 145 after finishing day one tied for 29th.
Junior Angelo Leyvani (San Antonio, Texas) Shot a 6-over 78 Saturday, falling 14 spots on the leaderboard after shooting a 4-over 76 Friday, and is tied for 56th. Freshman Andy Lopez (Dallas, Texas) climbed 15 spots on the leaderboard and improved his day one score by five strokes as he shot a 3-over 75 and is now tied for 60th. For the second-straight round, fellow true freshman Steven Fabik (Carrollton, Texas) tallied a 7-over 79 to remain tied for 65th, while senior Blake Stock (Hewitt, Texas) shot a 9-over 81 in the second round and is currently tied for 72nd.
Host Louisville has taken the team lead in the tournament with its second consecutive 2-under 286 round. Miami University (Ohio) is in second place after shooting 1-over 289 Saturday followed by Eastern Kentucky, who posted a 7-over 295 second-round score, in third.
Miami University's Patrick Flavin is in sole possession of first place on the leaderboard after shooting a 3-under 69 in the second round and posting a 4-under 68 in the first round. Competing as an individual, Louisville's Erik Dulik (6-under 138) sits in second place and teammate Simon Zach (5-under 139) is in third.
The 'Jacks will tee off of hole No. 10 tomorrow for the final round of play at the Cardinal Challenge, starting once again at 9:20 a.m. and continuing every 10 minutes until 10 a.m. SFA is paired with individual competitors and will tee off in the order of Stock, Fabik, Lopez, Leyvani and Kettler.
