SFA opens the 2016-17 campaign in Orlando, Florida, competing in the Bethune-Cookman Wildcat Individual October 21-23. That opening tournament leads into a busy November as SFA will compete in three tournaments in three weeks in three different states.
November opens with the Ladyjacks making the trek to Houston for the annual Sam Houston State Track Kat Clash, being held November 4-5. SFA then heads to Kenosha, Wisconsin for the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Classic, followed by a trip to Delaware for the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawk Classic the following weekend.
SFA closes out the 2016 calendar year with its final tournament of the fall semester, heading east to New Orleans, Louisiana, for the Tulane Invitational, being held December 2-4.
2017 opens up in Jonesboro, Arkansas, as the Ladyjacks compete in the Mid-Winter Invitational January 13-15, hosted by conference rival and perennial powerhouse Arkansas State. SFA will then remain in Texas for its next tournament, making its yearly trip to the ITRC in Arlington for the Prairie View A&M Invitational January 27-29.
February begins with the third installment of the SFA Stormin’ Ladyjack Invitational as Stephen F. Austin will once again serve as the host institution, welcoming some of the top bowling programs in the nation to Texas. This year’s event will be held at February 10-12 at 300 Bowl in Conroe.
The Ladyjacks will compete at the USBC Sectionals March 11-12 before heading to Nashville, Tennessee, for the Vanderbilt Columbia 300 Music City Classic March 17-19. SFA will then close out the 2016-17 regular season at the Southland Bowling League Championships, being held March 25 and 26.
SFA is hoping the efforts of the season will be rewarded with another trip to the NCAA Championships, being held this year in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, April 13-15. The Ladyjacks then close out the season at the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships, returning to Baton Rouge April 19-22.
SFA is looking to add to its impressive resume from the past couple years, resulting in the program’s first national championship in 2016 after a runner-up finish in 2015. SFA returns nearly its entire lineup from last season, including reigning Division I Player of the Year Stephanie Schwartz and senior Paige Kraushaar, an honorable mention All-American in 2014-15.
