FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin senior Luke Sheehan has been named a first team All-Southland Conference selection, announced today by the league office. Sheehan was joined by freshman Angelo Leyvani, who was tabbed an All-SLC honorable mention selection.
Sheehan capped his final season in a Lumberjack uniform in style, posting a 72.97 scoring average over the 29 rounds of 2015-16, going down as the second-lowest single season scoring average in program history and the second-best in the Southland Conference this season. Sheehan finished with a pair of top-10 showings and five other top-20 marks, highlighted by his tie for fifth overall at the UALR First Tee Classic, with 13 rounds of par or better in 2015-16.
For Sheehan’s career, he etched his name among the all-time Lumberjack greats in a number of categories. Playing 119 rounds for the ‘Jacks, Sheehan registered a 74.34 career scoring average, ranking third all-time in program history. He closes out his time in Nacogdoches with 35 rounds of par or better, ranking third all-time, while his 119 rounds played is seventh all-time, one round better than head coach Trey Schroeder.
The Cypress native ends his SFA career with nine top-10 finishes and 24 top-20 showings, capped by tying for 13th at the Southland Conference Championships last week in McKinney. Sheehan becomes the 10th Lumberjack to earn first team All-Southland Conference honors and the first since Mitchell McLeroy, who was a three-time first team honoree (2011-13).
