The eighth-ranked Ladyjacks are one of 10 teams competing in this weekend’s tournament with each participant appearing in the latest NTCA coaches poll. Five of the 10 sit among the nation’s top 10, including Nebraska (No. 2), Central Missouri (No. 5), McKendree (No. 6) and host Wisconsin-Whitewater (No. 7) joining SFA. St. Francis (Pa.) Ladyjacks Against The Field
SFA has seen its share of success against the UWW-Warhawk Classic field, posting a 16-11 (.593) record. The Ladyjacks have won four matches each this season against Nebraska and Wisconsin-Whitewater while winning a pair each against Adelphi, Central Missouri and Tulane. SFA is also 1-0 against both McKendree and Valparaiso.
Hello, Wisconsin
The trip to Kenosha this weekend will be a homecoming of sorts for a good portion of the SFA roster. The hometown of head coach Amber Lemke, the UWW-Warhawk Classic signals a trip home for Wisconsin natives senior Danielle Lynn (Milton) and sophomore Stephanie Schwartz (Racine). Lynn and Schwartz both rank in the top three in scoring average for SFA this season, led by Schwartz’s 208.72 average and Lynn’s 194.95 mark. The trip north also will mark a return home for freshman Dakotah Hazlewood, whose hometown of Capron, Illinois, sits just over an hour southwest of Kenosha. Hazlewood has come on strong in her freshman campaign, posting a 191.42 average and leading all SFA bowlers at last weekend’s Stormin’ Ladyjack Classic.
Last Time Out
SFA posted a 10-4 record, including a perfect 3-0 mark over the best-of-seven bracket play Sunday, finishing seventh at its host Stormin’ Ladyjack Classic last weekend in Houston. The Ladyjacks averaged a 198.2 per game, registering 15,459 total pins over 78 games. Individually, freshman Dakotah Hazlewood was the top Ladyjack bowler, finishing 18th overall with a 201.83 average, followed by sophomore Morgan Reising finishing 26th with a 196.83 average.
The Streaks Continue
The Ladyjacks continued a pair of impressive streaks with its seventh-place finish at last weekend’s Stormin’ Ladyjack Classic. Posting a 10-4 record, SFA upped its season record to 60-30, marking the fifth-straight season the Ladyjacks have reached 60 victories in a season, all of which have come under the direction of Lemke. SFA also registered its 28th-straight top-10 team finish, dating back to the spring of 2012.
Ladyjacks Remain Eighth in Latest NTCA Poll
Stephen F. Austin remains eighth in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, released by the organization earlier this week. The defending national runners-up occupy the eight spot for the third-straight poll, garnering 751 total points.
Looking Ahead
Following a busy spring that has included five tournaments in six weeks, SFA will have three weeks off before returning to action March 12-13, competing in the USBC Regionals. It will then lead into the Ladyjacks’ final regular season tournament of the year, traveling to Smyrna, Tennessee, for the 2016 Vanderbilt Music City Classic March 18-20.
