Stephen F. Austin returns to action in Tulsa, Oklahoma, competing in the 2015 Bob Hurley ORU Shootout. Hosted by Oral Roberts, play gets underway Monday at 8:30 a.m. with the first two rounds of the 54-hole event.
Tournament Information
The 2015 Bob Hurley ORU Shootout will be a 54-hole event, being played at the Meadowbrook Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The course will be a par-71, 6,120-yard layout with the first two rounds being played Monday, September 28, leading into the final round Tuesday, September 29. Both days will consist of a shotgun start, getting underway at 8:30 a.m., with live scoring available at BirdieFire.com.
Tournament Field
16 teams will compete in the event, including five Southland Conference schools in Lamar, McNeese State, Sam Houston State, SFA and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Ladyjacks, ranked 139 in the latest GolfStat rankings, are the fifth-highest team competing in the event, sitting behind No. 94 Lamar, No. 105 Oral Roberts, No. 112 Sam Houston State and No. 135 UTEP. Creighton, Drake, McLennan C.C., Nebraska-Omaha, North Texas, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma City and South Dakota round out the 2015 field.
Ladyjack Scorecard
The five Ladyjack golfers comprising the SFA scorecard this weekend will be seniors Sydney Reed and Mackenzie Steiner, juniors Ann Holcomb and Jessie White and sophomore Erica Lautensack.
Last Year’s Bob Hurley ORU Shootout
A yearly staple in SFA’s fall schedule, SFA is coming off a seventh-place finish at the 2014 event, shooting a 53-over 917. The Ladyjacks were led by Erica Lautensack’s 13-over 226, tying for 13th in the individual standings. 2015 marks the sixth-straight season SFA has competed in the event with the Ladyjacks finishing seventh in each of the past two events.
Last Time Out
SFA opened up the 2015-16 season with an 11th-place showing at the Kansas State Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas, September 7-8. Senior Sydney Reed led the way for the Ladyjacks with a 14-over 230, including a career-best round of even-par 72 in round three, tying for 24th overall.
Looking Ahead
SFA returns to action next week, making the short trip to Huntsville for the 2015 Sam Houston State Bearkat Women’s Invitational October 5th and 6th.
