NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin senior offensive lineman Byron Williams has been named a preseason third team All-American by STATS FCS, announced today by the organization.
A first team All-Southland Conference selection in 2014, Williams has been a key figure on the Lumberjacks’ offensive line for the past three season, appearing in 36 games with 33 starts at left guard. He has been a major factor for a number of impressive performances, including Gus Johnson’s program-best 3,907 career rushing yards with 52 touchdowns.
Williams returns to anchor an experienced Lumberjack offensive line which returns all five starters from 2014. The veteran line, including seniors David Dane and Terran Vaughn and juniors Anthony Pullins and Travis Wiggins, has teamed up to play in 146 games with 110 combined starts.
Williams is one of nine players from the Southland Conference named to the preseason All-America team as six SLC schools are represented on the list. STATS LLC becomes the preeminent media outlet for the Football Championship Subdivision, purchasing The Sports Network earlier this season and continuing to provide national coverage of the FCS.
