White Named SLC Student-Athlete of the Year

FRISCO, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin sophomore Jessie White has been named the 2015 Southland Conference Women's Golf Student-Athlete of the Year, announced today by the league office. White becomes the first Ladyjack in program history to earn the conference honor.
In addition to being named the Student-Athlete of the Year, White was named to the SLC All-Academic Team for women's golf, the first for SFA since instituting the program in 2009.
White put together arguably the best spring season a Ladyjack has ever seen, notching four top-six performances in the final four tournaments of the year. She posted a scoring average of 75.36 over the fall season and set a new program-low for a 54 hole tournament with a 4-over 220 at the Southland Conference Championships, earning the program's first-ever individual SLC title.
In her record-breaking 2014-15 campaign, White finished the year with a 77.21 scoring average over 28 rounds, the second-lowest single average in Ladyjack history. The sophomore finished the season with five top-six finishes, setting a new program record for most season and career top-10 finishes, and tied the second-lowest single round score with a 2-under 70 at the SLC Championships.
The Mansfield native boasts a career scoring average of 77.80, which currently ranks second all-time in Ladyjack program history over 45 rounds played. She boasts a 3.82 GPA, majoring in accounting.
It is the latest in a number of academic accolades for White, who was named a WGCA All-American Scholar in 2014. She was also named to the Southland Conference Commissioners Honor Roll in 2014 and looks poised to repeat her honors by both organizations.
White becomes the third SFA student-athlete to be named their respective sports's Student-Athlete of the Year in 2014-15, joining Paige Holland of volleyball and Morgan Glick of soccer. White was joined on the SLC All-Academic Team by Houston Baptist's Rachel Mulkey and the Lamar trio of Kelly Erasmus, Taylor Stockton and Bertille DuPont.
