NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Heavy rains and severe thunderstorms have led to the cancellation of SFA's game at Oklahoma Tuesday, May 12. With the cancelled game against the Sooners, SFA has officially closed the book on the 2015 season.
The Lumberjacks close out the 2015 season with a 17-34 overall record and were 11-18 in Southland Conference play, sitting 10th in the conference standings. SFA closed out the year by taking two of three from Lamar, notching its fourth SLC series victory of the year along with A&M-Corpus Christi, Sam Houston State and Abilene Christian. Sitting ninth in the race for the SLC tournament, SFA was eliminated from postseason contention when the Islanders won a Saturday doubleheader against Incarnate Word.
SFA had a handful of individual accolades on the season, highlighted by senior Dan O'Neill being named a first team Capital One Academic All-District selection last week. Junior Kyle Thornell has ranked among the SLC leaders in a number of statistical categories during conference play while Cameron Gann finished his four-year career with a complete game four-hit shutout Friday against the Cardinals, cementing his legacy as one of the Lumberjacks' all-time winningest pitchers.
