
SFA Begins Competition at NCAA Championships

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. -- Stephen F. Austin begins its quest for a national championship later today at the 2015 NCAA Bowling Championships, being held at the Tropicana Lanes in Richmond Heights, Missouri.
The Ladyjacks are making their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Championships, enter the competition as the number seven overall seed. SFA is led by NTCA Coach of the Year Amber Lemke as well as Freshman of the Year and first team All-American Stephanie Schwartz.
SFA will compete in five head-to-head matches Thursday, followed by two more Friday morning, pitting the Ladyjacks against all seven of the other competitors in the field. The records from the pool play will determine the seeding heading into the double elimination baker-style bracket play, which begins Friday afternoon.
The Ladyjacks open up the day facing eighth-seeded Wisconsin-Whitewater at 12:50 p.m., followed by fifth-seeded Central Missouri and fourth-seeded Vanderbilt. SFA closes out the day going head-to-head with top-seeded Nebraska before finishing out with second-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson.
SFA will then face third-seeded Arkansas State and sixth-seeded Sam Houston State in the Friday morning block before beginning the double elimination format.
The Ladyjacks have seen each of its seven competitors during the course of the season, posting a 13-18 record against the field. SFA is 5-3 against Vanderbilt this season and is 1-1 against Arkansas State, Central Missouri and Wisconsin-Whitewater. Fairleigh Dickinson (1-3), Nebraska (2-6) and Sam Houston State (2-3) have all posted winning records against the Ladyjacks this season.
