FRISCO, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin sophomore Jessica White has been named a first team All-Southland Conference selection, announced today by the league office. White becomes the first All-SLC first team selection in program history, coming on the heels of the program's first individual SLC champion.
In addition to White's honor, freshman Erica Lautensack was named an All-SLC honorable mention selection, giving the Ladyjacks a pair of all-conference performers for the first time in program history.
White put together arguably the best spring season a Ladyjack has ever seen, notching four top-six performances in the final four tournaments of the year. She posted a scoring average of 75.36 over the fall season and set a new program-low for a 54 hole tournament with a 4-over 220 at the Southland Conference Championships, earning the program's first-ever individual SLC title.
In her record-breaking 2014-15 campaign, White finished the year with a 77.21 scoring average over 28 rounds, the second-lowest single average in Ladyjack history. The sophomore finished the season with five top-six finishes, setting a new program record for most season and career top-10 finishes, and tied the second-lowest single round score with a 2-under 70 at the SLC Championships.
Lautensack made quite an impression in her first season as a Ladyjack, setting the program's single-season record for scoring average at 76.29. The freshman posted eight-straight top-20 showings on the season, including becoming the first player in program history to win an individual title as she captured medalist honors at both the ASU Lady Red Wolf Classic and the A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic.
Her career got off to a rousing start as she recorded the first hole-in-one in Ladyjack golf history on the second hole of her collegiate career, shooting the ace at the season-opening Texas A&M `Mo'Morial Invitational. Lautensack also notched the program's lowest 36-hole tournament score, shooting a 3-under 141 at the Lady Red Wolf Classic, tying the program's lowest single-round score with a 3-under 69.
The pair also recorded etched their name into the record books for another reason this season as they became the first players in program history to earn SLC Golfer of the Month honors. Lautensack was the November honoree while White took home the honors for April, leading into the conference tournament.
The All-SLC honors for the Ladyjack duo now brings SFA's total of All-SLC performers to three as sophomore Piper Kyle was a third-team selection in 2014.
Voting for the All-Southland Conference team was done by both the league's head coaches and sports information directors following the conclusion of the 2015 SLC Championships last week in McKinney.
