McKINNEY, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin solidified its hold on third-place at the 2015 Southland Conference Championship, posting a 10-over 298 over the tournament's second round. The Ladyjacks enter Wednesday's final round with a 33-over 609, holding a seven-stroke lead on fourth-place Houston Baptist.
Sophomore Jessica White continued her impressive play in the spring season, shooting an even-par 72 over the second 18 holes to sit at 6-over 150. White enters the final round tied for third overall, seeking her fourth-straight top-six finish to close out the year. Sophomore Ann Holcomb also posted an even-par 72 on the day and is one shot back of White with a 7-over 151 and also sits among the individual top-10, tied for sixth.
Two other Ladyjacks sit among the individual top 20 as sophomore Piper Kyle is tied for 12th, posting a 10-over 154 after her second-straight 77. She leads freshman teammate Erica Lautensack by one shot as Lautensack is tied for 14th overall with an 11-over 155 (77-78). Junior Mackenzie Steiner closed out the SFA scorecard with a 5-over 77, carding a 14-over 158 for the tournament.
Heading into Wednesday's final round, SFA remains within striking distance of the team leaders, sitting seven strokes back of first-place Central Arkansas (26-over 602) and six shots behind second-place Lamar (27-over 603). The Ladyjacks hold a seven shot lead on fourth-place Houston Baptist (40-over) with Sam Houston State (45-over 621) rounding out the top-five.
The final round of the 2015 Southland Conference Championship gets underway at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning with the Ladyjacks teeing off in the third wave of pairings. SFA will once again play with Houston Baptist, beginning with Steiner teeing off at 9:30 a.m., leading up to White's 10:06 tee time.
