Ladyjacks Begin Quest for SLC Championship

McKINNEY, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin looks to continue its impressive play over the spring season, heading to McKinney for the 2015 Southland Conference Championship April 13-15 at Stonebridge Country Club.

The 54-hole event will be played on the par-72, 6,262-yard Hill Course, playing 18 holes per day. SFA enters the 14th annual championship as the number five overall seed and will play with sixth-seeded McNeese State in round one, beginning at 8:45 a.m. Monday morning.
The Ladyjacks will be looking to build on last season's fifth-place showing, the best in program history, sending arguably one of the strongest teams in program history. Sophomore Jessica White has notched three-straight top-six finishes, earning SLC Golfer of the Month honors for March, while freshman Erica Lautensack has posted three top-10 and eight top-20 showings in her Ladyjack debut.
Lautensack leads SFA with a 76.04 scoring average, slightly ahead of White's 77.68 average. Sophomore Ann Holcomb ranks third on the team with a 77.74 average over 23 rounds with junior Mackenzie Steiner shooting a 78.47 on the year over 19 rounds. Sophomore Piper Kyle rounds out the Ladyjack scorecard, averaging a 76.83 over six rounds in the spring.
SFA has posted one of its top seasons already as the Ladyjacks have posted a 306.36 scoring average in 2014-15, the lowest in program history. As a team, SFA has recorded five top-five finishes on the year, including capturing the first tournament title in program history at the UIW Fall Invitational in October. 12 Ladyjacks have recorded top-10 individual showings with an additional 11 top-20 finishes.
The Ladyjacks tee off beginning at 8:45 Monday morning, beginning with Steiner. SFA then tees off nine-minute increments, leading up to White's 9:21 tee time. Live scoring of the event is available at Golfstat.com with full results posted at SFAJacks.com as they become available.
