FRISCO, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin sophomore Jessica White has been named the Southland Conference Women's Golfer of the Month, announced today by the league office. It marks the first SLC honor for White as SFA claimed Golfer of the Month honors for the second-straight month.
White paced the Ladyjacks in the month of March, recording three top-10 finishes. She tied for fifth at the Southern Miss Lady Eagle Invitational shooting 2-over 74 in the weather-shortened event. White then tied for sixth at the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational, shooting a 54-hole career-best of 222 in the process, before placing fourth at the UALR/ASU Women's Golf Classic with a 10-over 226.
White has now recorded four top-10 finishes on the season for SFA and ranks second on the team with a 77.68 scoring average. She saved nearly two strokes off her season scoring average over the month, boasting a career scoring average of 78.12 through 42 rounds played.
White becomes the second-straight Ladyjack to capture the SLC's Golfer of the Month award, coming on the heels of Erica Lautensack earning the honor in February. The duo makes up the two SLC Golfer of the Months in SFA program history.
White and the rest of the Ladyjacks now set their sights on the 2015 Southland Conference Championships April 13-15 in Frisco. SFA is looking to build on its fifth-place finish in 2014, which was the best finish in Ladyjack program history.
