MAUMELLE, Ark. -- Mackenzie Steiner's hole-in-one in round one highlighted the day as Stephen F. Austin is in seventh-place among the 15-team field following the first two rounds of the 2015 UALR/SU Women's Golf Invitational. The Ladyjacks posted a 39-over 615, sitting six strokes out of the top-five in the team standings.
Steiner hit the ace on the par-three 17th, covering the 153 yards with a seven-iron. It was the first hole-in-one of Steiner's career and the second of the season for SFA after freshman Erica Lautensack posted one in her first collegiate tournament back in October.
As a team, SFA opened the day with a 16-over 304, sitting in sole possession of fifth-place after round one. The Ladyjacks then added seven strokes to their round one score, posting a 23-over 311 and settling into seventh-place after 36 holes.
Sophomore Jessica White continues to lead SFA as she sits in a good position to claim her third-straight top-10 finish. White is tied for eighth after 36 holes, shooting a 7-over 151, including a 2-over 74 in round two.
Steiner is tied for 22nd overall with a 10-over 154, carding a 1-over 73 in round one before posting a 9-over 81 in round two. Freshman Eric Lautensack and sophomore Piper Kyle are tied for 30th overall with an 11-over 155 while Ann Holcomb rounds out the Ladyjack scorecard with a 16-over 160.
SFA enters Tuesday's final round with a two-stroke lead on eighth-place UTEP (41-over 617) and is six shots better than ninth-place Western Michigan (45-over 621). The Ladyjacks are two shots back of sixth-place Missouri State (37-over 613) and trail fifth-place UMKC (33-over 609) by six shots.
Southland Conference foe Central Arkansas holds the lead after 36 holes with a 22-over 598, leading second-place Oral Roberts (27-over 603) by five strokes. Hosts Arkansas-Little Rock (29-over 605) and Arkansas State (32-over 608) sit third and fourth respectively with UMKC rounding out the top-five.
Tuesday's final round gets underway with a shotgun start on 8 a.m. as the Ladyjacks will be teamed up with UTEP and Western Michigan, teeing off on holes 7-9. Full results will be posted at SFAJacks.com as they become available.
