NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Stephen F. Austin remains fifth in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, released today by the organization. It is the final media poll of the regular season as teams begin gearing up for their postseason runs.
The Ladyjacks tallied 442 points, remaining in the number five spot while boasting a season record of 73-34. SFA has posted four top-10 team showings on the year, coming off a fourth-place finish at the SFA Storming `Jack Classic Feb. 13-15. SFA also had a strong showing at last weekend's USBC Sectionals in Fort Worth, finishing second and qualifying for the USBC National tournament April 15-18 in Wichita, Kan.
There was little change to the top-10 as eight of the 10 remain in the same slots as the February poll. Nebraska is still number one, garnering 21 first place votes, with Fairleigh Dickinson remaining second with one first place vote. Arkansas State and Central Missouri join the Ladyjacks in the top-five with Vanderbilt, Sam Houston State, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Maryland-Eastern Shore and North Carolina A&T rounding out the top-10.
The Ladyjacks now prepare for the first ever Southland Bowling League tournament, being held in Houston March 21st and 22nd. SFA is one of eight teams competing in the event and are the number two overall seed behind Arkansas State.
