
Ladyjacks To Host No. 63 Maryland

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin women’s tennis team will host No. 63 Maryland on Saturday at the Schlief Tennis Complex. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m.
The Ladyjacks (2-1) are coming off a 1-1 showing their last time out. SFA last took the court on Wednesday, Jan. 28, splitting matches with Dallas Baptist and No. 70 North Texas in Denton, Texas. SFA downed DBU 4-1, before falling 4-0 to the Mean Green.
Junior Dhanielly Quevedo is still undefeated on the season, posting a 2-0 record between No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Fellow junior Valeria Terentyeva (2-1) has also posted two wins between No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
Doubles tandems of Malena Gordo and Quevedo (No. 1 doubles) and Vivienne Kulicke and Terentyeva are both 2-1 on the season (No. 3 doubles).
Maryland comes to Nacogdoches with a 1-2 record. The Terrapins opened the season with a 4-1 win over No. 61 Georgia State, before dropping their last two matches 4-0 and 5-2 to No. 2 Florida and No. 74 William & Mary.
Saturday’s marks the opening of the “$500 Cash Challenge” for the Ladyjacks. Student groups and Greek life are encouraged to come watch SFA compete at home this season. The student group with the largest turnout at the end of the regular season will win the cash prize. Minimum of 250 total attendance to be eligible.
