Ladyjacks Announce Three Additions For 2016

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin women’s golf today announced three freshmen signees to the Ladyjack golf program. Alexandra Batista, Paola Cortes and Haleigh Jordan have all signed National Letters of Intent and will begin competing for SFA in the fall of 2016.
Batista is a two-time district champion, competing for Byron Nelson High School High School in Trophy Club. A member of the 4A state championship team as a freshman in 2012, Batista placed 15th individually and has qualified for the state tournament three times (twice as a team and as an individual in 2015).
Batista won the Northwest Invitational earlier this season, shooting a personal-best six-under 66. This past summer, she placed third at the Fort Worth City Junior Championship, including an even-par 72 in round two.
Cortes is a first team all-district performer at Allen High School, helping lead the Eagles to a fifth-place showing at the 6A state championship in 2015. A first team all-region selection, she was a key member of Allen’s regional runner-up team as a junior.
Cortes won the NTPGA Dallas Athletic Club Junior open this past summer and has competed on the Cactus Tour. She has a low 36-hole tournament score of 165, firing her first career hole-in-one in August of 2012.
Jordan is first team all-district performer from Johnson High School in San Antonio. A three year letterwinner and senior team captain, she captured the 2015 RGVGCA regional preview championship with a 152 en route to placing fourth at the district tournament.
A second team all-region selection, Johnson has competed on the Prestige Tour, including a second-place showing at the San Antonio Junior Open. She also captured a tournament title at the River Crossing Club on the junior tour with a 1-under 71.
The trio will join an SFA Ladyjack club that continues to improve into one of the top teams in the Southland Conference. Led by reigninig SLC Champion Jessie White, SFA is coming off a strong fall season which saw the Ladyjacks record a pair of top-five team finishes, including repeating at the Incarnate Word Women’s Invitational champion in October. The Ladyjacks resume the 2015-16 season in Estero, Florida, competing in the Florida Gulf Coast Eagle Invitational February 12-14, 2016.
