NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Stephen F. Austin closed out the 2015 Fairleigh Dickinson New Jersey Jamboree going 1-1 over the final day of competition, closing out the event with an eighth-place showing. SFA posted a 6-6 mark over the three day event and is now 16-11 overall on the season.
Sitting in seventh place in the team standings, SFA just missed qualifying for the championship bracket, drawing North Carolina A&T in the opening round. The Ladyjacks opened up the best-of-seven match with a 170-143 victory before dropping game two 215-177. SFA then bowled a 236-212 victory in game three before the two teams tied 202-202 in game four. The Ladyjacks then secured the win with victories in the final two games, including a 225-181 decision in game six.
SFA’s final match of the tournament pitted the Ladyjacks against Wisconsin-Whitewater as SFA dropped a 4-1 decision to the War Hawks. After dropping the first three games of the match, the Ladyjacks responded with a decisive 224-170 victory in game four. But the comeback attempt came up short as SFA fell 189-175 in game five.
SFA will now have a month-long hiatus before returning to the lanes. The Ladyjacks return to competition in Houston, participating in the annual SHSU Track Kat Klash December 4-6.
