Opening Tee
Stephen F. Austin returns to the links for the third time in as many weeks, seeking to defend its team title at the 2015 UIW Fall Invitational. The tournament gets underway on Monday, October 12, before wrapping up on Tuesday, October 13.
Tournment Information
The 2015 UIW Fall Invitational will be a 36-hole event, being played at the Republic Golf Course in San Antonio. The course will be a par-71 course, measuring 6,037 yards, with 18 holes being played on Monday and the final round taking place on Tuesday, getting underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. each morning.
Tournament Field
SFA is one of six teams competing in the event, going head-to-head against Incarnate Word, Texas A&M International, Texas A&M-Kingsville, St. Edward’s and Murray State College. The Ladyjacks are one of three Division I programs taking part in the event.
Ladyjack Scorecard
SFA is bringing six golfers to San Antonio as the five-team scoring squad will consist of seniors Sydney Reed and Mackenzie Steiner, juniors Courtney Ford and Jessie White and sophomore Jamee Jorgensen. Fellow sophomore Erica Lautensack will compete as an individual for SFA.
UIW Fall Invitational History
SFA made history in its last trip to the Alamo City as the Ladyjacks captured the first team title in program history, winning the 2014 event by 26 strokes over host Incarnate Word. SFA shot a 55-over 907, the lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history, as six Ladyjack golfers finished in the top-10. Reed led the way, finishing second overall, with White placing third and Lautensack tying for fourth overall.
Last Time Out
Stephen F. Austin tied for seventh at the 2015 SHSU Bearkat Women’s Invitational last week in Huntsville, shooting a 66-over 918. The Ladyjacks struggled on day one, posting a 307 and a 309 in the opening two rounds before recovering with a 302 over the final 18 holes to slide into a tie for seventh. Jessie White once again led the Ladyjacks, tying for eighth overall with an 8-over 221, recording the sixth top-10 showing of her SFA career.
Looking Ahead
After competing in tournaments in three-straight weeks, SFA will have a little time off before returning to action. The Ladyjacks close out the fall portion of their 2015-16 schedule in Little Rock, Arkansas, competing in the 2015 UALR Women’s Invitational November 2-4.
