
SFA Sits Seventh at PVAMU Invitational

ARLINGTON, Texas – The second day of the Prairie View A&M Invitational saw Stephen F. Austin notch wins over top-10 foes Vanderbilt and Central Missouri as the Ladyjacks posted a 3-2 mark on the day. The Ladyjacks upped their record to 5-5 on the weekend, sitting seventh among the stacked 12-team field with a 202.3 scoring average.
Playing in five traditional style matches, SFA opened up the second day of the event with a thrilling 1,019-1,013 win over Alabama State, led by freshman Stephanie Schwartz’s game-high 231. Senior Chelsea King posted a 217 as well for the Ladyjacks as freshman Kelsi Anderson just missed the 200-pin plateau, finishing with a 199 to help lead SFA to the victory.
The Ladyjacks then went head-to-head with Valparaiso, falling to the Crusaders 978-885 as no SFA bowlers were able to crack 200. Schwartz led the way with a 197 while sophomore Kiara Grant bowled a 192, just ahead of junior Danielle Lynn’s 184.
SFA rebounded in match three with a 1,060-1,028 win over ninth-ranked Vanderbilt as four Ladyjacks bowled over 200 against the Commodores. Schwartz once again led the way with a game-high 242, followed by a 224 from King and a 214 from freshman Morgan Reising to pace SFA.
In one of the closest matches of the season, the Ladyjacks hit the pins that mattered down the stretch, defeating third-ranked Central Missouri 1,066-1,060. King had the high game of the day for SFA, bowling a 256 for the Ladyjacks, while Schwartz notched a 247 and Reising added a 233 to secure the win over the Jennies.
SFA closed out the day with a 1,087-980 loss to 10th-ranked North Carolina A&T, evening their overall record for the tournament at 5-5. Reising was the top bowler for the Ladyjacks, notching a 222, with Schwartz adding a 219 to give her a total of 1,048 pins on the day, recording a 209.6 scoring average for the day.
