“We’re looking forward to this season and building on the successes we had last year,” Schroeder said. “It’s a good schedule for us as there is a good balance of tournaments. We’ll see some of the top teams in the country and it will give us some good experience as we move into the spring.”
The Lumberjacks open up their 2014-15 campaign at the challenging Invitational at the Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, South Carolina on Sept. 13-14 – an event that historically brings in some of the country’s top programs.
SFA then will have a month-long break before returning to action at the Miramont Invitational in Bryan on Oct. 13-14. The ‘Jacks head east to Louisiana for the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate in Ruston Oct. 20-21 before closing out the season with another tough outing in Vero Beach, Fla., competing in the Quail Valley Invitational Oct. 27-28.
SFA’s men is coming off a strong showing in 2013-14 as the Lumberjacks recorded six top-five finishes on the year, highlighted by capturing the team title at the Incarnate Word James Litz Memorial in April. SFA capped the season tying for third at the Southland Conference Championships – its best finish since 2003.
The Ladyjacks begin their 2014-15 season in Bryan, competing in the Texas A&M ‘Mo’Morial Invitational Sept. 8-10. SFA then makes a trip to Louisiana for the annual Louisiana-Monroe Fred Marx Invitational Sept. 22-23.
The following week, the Ladyjacks head north to Oklahoma for the Oral Roberts Shootout Sept. 29-30 before a trek to Jonesboro, Ark., for the Arkansas State Lady Red Wolf Classic Oct. 13-14. SFA closes out the fall season back in the Lone Star state, visiting San Antonio for the Incarnate Word Fall Invitational on Oct. 27-28.
The Ladyjacks are coming off arguably the best season in program history, posting a team-best 311.85 scoring average with four top-five finishes. SFA capped the 2013-14 season by finishing fifth at the Southland Conference Championships, the best showing by a Ladyjack team in the five year history of the program.
