Phelps Captures CPT Gleannloch Open Title

SPRING, Texas – Stephen F. Austin senior Bradley Phelps started his summer tournament schedule on a strong note, notched a first-place finish at the CPT Gleannloch Collegiate Open, presented by State Farm Insurance. Phelps carded a 5-under 208 to win by four strokes and lead the 35-player field.
Phelps opened up the 54-hole tournament with a 1-under 70 before firing a 4-under 67 in round two, recording 12 pars and five birdies with just one bogey on the day. Phelps closed out the event with an even-par 71, defeating Jared Cornish of Incarnate Word by four shots to preserve the victory.
An All-Southland Conference honorable mention selection in 2013-14, Phelps competed in 11 events for SFA, ranking third on the team with a 75.06 scoring average through 33 rounds. The Colleyville native had three top-10 finishes, highlighted by a tie for third at the 2014 Moe O’Brien Intercollegiate.
Four SFA women also competed in the event, led by sophomore Jessica White placing fifth with a 16-over 229. Sophomore Ann Holcomb tied for 13th overall with a 22-over 235, one shot better than junior teammate Mackenzie Steiner’s 23-over 236. Sophomore Courtney Ford tied for 18th with a 27-over 240, rounding out the SFA competitors.
