NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin head golf coach Trey Schroeder today announced the signing of Jamee Jorgensen, who will become a member of the SFA women's golf program this fall.
"Jamee is very talented, is extremely competitive and wants to win, which is what you ask for as a coach," Schroeder said. "She is still a little raw being she is still somewhat new to the sport, but what I liked about watching her was her fierce competitiveness. She will push her teammates to be better and will put in the work it takes to be successful."
On the course, Jorgensen was four year letterwinner and all-district selection at Champion High School in Boerne, placing fourth at the District 27-4A meet as a senior. She then placed third at the Region IV-4A meet, becoming the first female golfer at Boerne-Champion to qualify for the state meet. In her senior season, Jorgensen had four top-five finishes with one individual title.
Jorgensen was a two-sport athlete, also lettering four times in basketball where she was named the team's MVP. She averaged nearly seven points, five rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game as a senior, helping lead Boerne-Champion to a playoff appearance in 2014.
Jorgensen will be joining a Ladyjack squad that is coming off arguably the best season in program history. SFA placed fifth at the Southland Conference Championships, its highest-ever finish, led by freshman Piper Kyle being named a second team All-SLC selection. The Ladyjacks return five of their top six competitors in 2014-15, looking to build off a year in which SFA posted a program-best 311.85 scoring average and four top-five finishes.
