Field (14 teams): Alabama-Birmingham, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Jackson State, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Murray State, New Orleans, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Stephen F. Austin, UT-Pan American, Western Kentucky, William Carey
SFA Lineup
The Ladyjacks’ lineup for this week’s events is comprised by the usual five, led by senior Aliece Anderson. She will be joined by sophomores Sydney Reed and Mackenzie Steiner with freshmen Ann Holcomb and Piper Kyle rounding out the SFA scorecard.
Weather Forecast
Weather shouldn’t be too much of a factor for the Lady Eagle Invitational as the Hattiesburg forecast calls for some great playing conditions. Monday is expected to be sunny and warm with temperatures in the mid-70s and low wind. Tuesday could be slightly more challenging as clouds are expected to increase and the forecast calls for the chance of a shower with temperatures in the mid-70s.
SFA at the Lady Eagle Invitational
SFA is competing in the Lady Eagle Invitational for the third time in program history, having competed in both 2011 and 2013. The Ladyjacks tied for fifth in the team standings in 2011 as Noelle Willcoxon tied for 18th in the individual standings, then tied for ninth in 2013 as Sydney Reed recorded the first top-20 finish of her career, finishing tied for 11th overall.
Last Time Out
The Ladyjacks are coming off an eighth-place finish at the A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic Feb. 24th and 25th. SFA shot a 65-over 929 for the event and was led by sophomore Mackenzie Steiner who recorded her first career top-20 finish, finishing tied for 19th with a 13-over 229. Her tournament was highlighted by a 1-under 71 in the final round, the second time this spring Steiner has shot a 71, which is the third-best round in program history.
All-Time Leader
Heading into this week’s event, senior Aliece Anderson sits poised to solidify her place in the Ladyjack record book. Anderson has competed in 101 rounds during her SFA career, becoming only the second player in program history to reach that mark, and should surpass Chelsea Simmons as the all-time leader for rounds played. Simmons competed in 102 rounds for the Ladyjacks from 2009-13, meaning Anderson should become the all-time leader at the conclusion of the Lady Eagle Invitational’s second round Monday.
Looking Ahead
SFA will continue its spring break trip, traveling from Mississippi to Florida for a second tournament this week. The Ladyjacks head to Orange Park, Fla., competing in the James Madison Eagle Landing Invitational this weekend, beginning Friday, March 14th and running through Sunday, March 16th.
