Up next was a showdown with Long Island, the team that ultimately finished third in the opening round behind SFA. The Ladyjacks put together their best showing of the day, defeating the Blackbirds 889-732 and winning each game in the process. SFA won the opener 199-181, then put together three more 200-pin games, defeating LIU 256-172, 211-208 and 223-171.
SFA and Jackson State met up in the third game of the day and the opening game set the tone with the Ladyjacks notching a slim 201-200 victory. JSU won the second 204-179, followed by a 227-205 Ladyjack victory in the third. But the Tigers responded in the final game of the match, defeating SFA 233-197 to take the 847-804 decision.
A pair of ranked opponents awaited SFA in the next two matches, beginning with top-ranked Arkansas State. The Ladyjacks and Red Wolves bowled to a 185-185 tie in the opening game, but ASU pulled away in the next three games, defeating SFA 221-191, 227-171 and 257-200 to earn the 890-747 victory and dropping the Ladyjacks to 2-2 on the day.
Up next, SFA faced seventh-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater and fell behind early, falling 205-160, 201-164 and 213-168 through the first three games. The Ladyjacks rebounded with a 194-178 victory in the final game of the match, but it wasn't enough to surpass the Warhawks as UWW took the match 797-686.
In the final match of the day, SFA rebounded and outlasted Texas Southern for a 787-770 victory. SFA took the opener 203-156 before falling in the second 230-201. After the two teams tied 223-223 in the third, the Ladyjacks knew they just had to keep the fourth game close to preserve the victory, which they did in a 161-160 loss to the Tigers, closing out the day with a 3-3 mark.
Each round of the Sam Houston State Track Kat Klash will be treated as its own event, meaning SFA notched its third top-two finish of the season.
